Various members of the State’s Attorney’s office reacted after a guilty verdict was reached in a former Palm Beach Gardens officer accused of killing a church drummer.
State Attorney for Palm Beach County Dave Aronberg thanked the judge and the jury for all their hard work before commenting on the the families involved.
“It says a lot about the families, the Jones family and the Banks family that they were praying for the defendant’s families because ultimately there are no winners here today. Nothing can bring Corey Jones back. Nothing can reverse the tragedy that happened,” Aronberg said.
Prosecutor Adrienne Ellis said she was grateful for the jury for taking their time with the verdict.
“I’m kind of speechless right now because I wanted the jury to get it right for Corey and they did,” Ellis said.
Raja will be sentenced next month. He faces up to life in prison.
